How should spaces be designed to bring together healthcare and community? This event invites participants to work together to develop design concepts for multifunctional neighbourhood spaces.
Multifunctional neighbourhood spaces offer the opportunity to bring healthcare, prevention, education, and social interaction together in one place. However, this requires spaces that are able to meet these changing needs; they might pivot from facilitating telemedicine or therapeutic services at one time to housing prevention courses, health advice, or exercise programs at another—or even educational and community activities such as homework support, neighborhood meetings, or theatre performances. Such spaces can become important hubs within the neighborhood. For them to function effectively, new approaches to design are required. The event brings together stakeholders from academia and practice to jointly reflect on the design of such multifunctional neighborhood spaces and develop initial ideas. Following brief presentations from practitioners and researchers, participants will work in small groups to develop concrete solutions using the “Healthy Design Canvas” from the Design Institute for Healthy Design.
Afterwards, there will be plenty of time for networking over drinks and snacks.
