Come and Play! Discover how colour and material interact strategically. Based on RAL COLOUR FEELING 2027+, you will develop needs-based concepts and put your ideas into practice straight away.

How do color and material influence our perception, emotions, and use of spaces and products? And how can these levels of impact be designed with intent and strategy?

The workshop "Come & Play! Think and design strategically with color and material" at the 2026 mcbw is dedicated to precisely this question. In a collaboration between RAL and Gabriel, participants combine color systems, future impulses, and a variety of textures and materials into an integrated design process.

The starting point is the trend report RAL COLOUR FEELING 2027+ Envision and Craft, which serves as a future- and needs-oriented framework. This is followed by experimental work with the specially developed RAL Trendbox: colors and materials are combined, tested, reviewed, and analyzed in terms of their effect.

The aim is not to think about color intentions in isolation, but to consistently translate them into material decisions. Small teams create strategic mood boards that address specific application scenarios, clearly justify the desired effect—and show how this can be achieved through color and material.

RAL contributes structured colour logic in the context of trend forecasting, while Gabriel contributes textile material expertise and haptic reality. Together, they build a bridge between insight, tool and application – in the sense of a ‘playground of possibilities’.
