Elisabeth André
Prof. Dr. Elisabeth André is the founder and chair holder of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence at the University of Augsburg. Her research explores how increasing technological complexity can be addressed through user-centered design to keep technology manageable for people.
She has received numerous awards, including the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize (2021), Germany’s top research award. In 2019, the German Informatics Society (GI) named her one of the ten most influential figures in German AI history.
She is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, Academia Europaea, the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and acatech. She is also a GI Fellow and recipient of the Bavarian Order of Merit.
